CNBC anchors all giddy for Cash for Clunkers, -huge success, perfect solution, how could anyone object?, etc.
No. Cash for Clunkers is taking the future of America and helping someone buy a new car. Billions of taxpayer money thrown away to car dealers with One Clunker replaced by another Clunker -is not a success of anything.
An ounce of vision could come up with plans that really help America –how about $4500 off of every solar panel put on an American home? This would help the environment, the future of America. No. Let’s trade in a 12mpg car for one that gets 16mpg in the city –forget the phony hwy epa mileage -90% of all driving is in the city.
No. Let’s celebrate $Billions for no permanent job creation, devaluing the dollar sending imported crude oil higher, more national debt creation.
Hey, this sounds like the spendulus $Trillion, -except the money is out in the open being funneled to unions -obama payback for votes. As opposed to the spendulus Trillion that went into the bureaucracy black hole of gov -that only is seen clearly in high unemployment, devaluing of the dollar, rising costs of imported crude oil. Well, the spendulus that you can find -went to gov and unions here and there and obama machines like acorn, -with just enough really small amounts of money going to the envir and gov jobs so that obama can make a flowery speech.
Which may be why some are celebrating –there is more visibility of results from the $1,000,000,000 clunkers for clunkers than the $1,000,000,000,000 obama peolsi spendulus!
For Anyone to brag about the ability of the gov to give away $4500 of taxpayer money to put people in a new car is pretty lame. $Billions for job creation of new nuclear plants would be something to celebrate. $Billions for using American resources coal and natural gas, etc.
Which would help the future of America more and create real jobs? A new car -or a new nuclear plant –or solar panels on residential roofs.
Let me see, will this $4500 for a new car help car sales in future years? No. Help the environment? No. It could have if the $4500 went to folks buying cars that get 40+ mpg (Ford Fusion Hybrid for example) city instead of the clunker for clunker program. JayR
